Tony Hillerman

Tony Hillerman (1925–2008), an Albuquerque, New Mexico,
resident since 1963, was the author of twenty-nine books, including the
popular seventeen-mystery series featuring Navajo police officers Jim Chee
and Joe Leaphorn, two non-series novels, two children’s books,
and nonfiction works. He received every major honor for mystery fiction,
and the Western Writers of America honored him with the Wister Award for
Lifetime achievement in 2008. He served as president of the prestigious
Mystery Writers of America, and was honored with that group’s Edgar Award
and as one of mystery fiction’s Grand Masters. In 2001, his memoir,
Seldom Disappointed, won both the Anthony and Agatha Awards for best nonfiction.

Anne Hillerman


Anne is the author of six books and has been a journalist for
twenty years. She has received awards for her work from the
National Federation of Press Women and the New Mexico Press
Association. She is currently the director of Wordharvest
Writers Workshops and the Tony Hillerman Writers Conference:
Focus on Mystery. She lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.


Don Strel

Photographer Don Strel has had his photos published in numerous books
and magazines. He has taught design at San Francisco State and Northern
Illinois University, and has served as the director of the Museum of Fine Arts,
Museum of New Mexico. He is currently the director of the Southwest Assignments
design and photo agency, which he founded in 1985. He lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
